The Northern part of the Sahara Desert is very dry and sub-tropical, while the Southern part is dry and tropical. There is always a very hot, dry season right before the rainy season begins. It is very warm and hot during the day, but right after sunset the temperature drops quickly. The winters are dry and very mild. It isn't as hot as it normally is. It is only a little bit cooler than usual though. The summers average up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. The winter temperatures are normally a little below 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
The annual rainfall does not go over 5 inches per year. This sometimes makes water difficult to find. This is why there are many oasises that you can find scattered through out the desert. Animals drink out of these. This is also why cacti and other plants absorb and hold water so they can keep growing. The rainfall generally falls between December and March.
